Biography of Hon. Uzo Azubuike

Hon. Uzo Azubuike is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, and public servant from Abia State. He is particularly associated with Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency and has served at both the state and federal levels of government.

Azubuike hails from Abia State and studied Law at Abia State University, where he obtained his law degree. He subsequently qualified as a lawyer and developed a professional background in legal practice and public affairs.

His political career began at the grassroots level. He served as a Supervisory Councillor in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area and later became Secretary of Aba North Local Government. These early positions gave him experience in local administration and grassroots governance.

Azubuike subsequently entered the Abia State House of Assembly, where he represented Obingwa West State Constituency. He served for two terms and rose to become Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2011.

In 2011, he was elected to the House of Representatives, representing Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). During the 7th National Assembly, he became Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions, a position that placed him at the centre of legislative oversight concerning petitions and complaints submitted to the National Assembly.

As a federal legislator, Azubuike participated in debates, committee activities, constituency representation, and oversight functions. He was particularly involved in issues concerning good governance, public accountability, infrastructure, economic development, and the welfare of his constituents.

After his tenure in the House of Representatives, Azubuike continued to participate in political and public affairs in Abia State. He was later appointed Commissioner for Agriculture in Abia State, serving under the administration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

As Commissioner for Agriculture, he was involved in government efforts aimed at promoting agriculture, supporting farmers, and strengthening the agricultural sector of Abia State.

Azubuike has also remained active in community affairs and political discussions concerning the development of Abia State. His career has been characterised by movement through grassroots administration, state legislation, federal legislation, and state executive office.
