Before his political candidacy, Okoro served as a Senior Legislative Aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas. Through this role, he gained experience working within the National Assembly and participating in legislative and administrative processes.

In 2026, Okoro emerged as the APC candidate for the Ekiti South West/Ikere/Ise-Orun Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections. His emergence generated public discussion concerning his background and eligibility, with the APC leadership in Ekiti and his campaign organisation maintaining that he is an indigene of Ise-Ekiti. His name was subsequently included in the published candidate records for the 2027 election.

In September 2026, Okoro was questioned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in connection with allegations concerning his involvement in a private company while serving as a legislative aide. The investigation also concerns alleged public contracts and declarations. These matters remain allegations under investigation and have not resulted in a conviction.

Toyin Zaccheus Okoro remains active in Ekiti State politics and is currently positioned to contest the Ekiti South West/Ikere/Ise-Orun Federal Constituency seat under the APC in the 2027 general election.
