About Tanimu Philip Aduda (Sen.)

Biography of Sen. Tanimu Philip Aduda

Sen. Tanimu Philip Aduda is a Nigerian politician and former federal legislator from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. Born on 13 June 1969 in Karu, Abuja, he built a long political career at both the House of Representatives and Senate levels, representing constituencies and the FCT in the National Assembly.

Aduda received his early education in Abuja and attended Government Secondary School, Gwagwalada. He subsequently studied at Kaduna Polytechnic and the University of Jos before completing further studies at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, where he obtained a Higher Diploma in Public Administration.

His political career began at the grassroots level. In 1996, he was elected as a councillor representing Karu Ward and subsequently became involved in the administration and political affairs of the Abuja Municipal Area Council. His growing political profile led to his election to the House of Representatives, where he represented the AMAC/Bwari constituency from 2003 to 2011.

In 2011, Aduda was elected Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected in 2015 and 2019, giving him an extended tenure in the Senate across the 7th, 8th and 9th National Assemblies. During his time in the Senate, he held leadership positions including Minority Whip and Minority Leader and participated in several committees dealing with national policy and development.

Beyond legislative duties, Aduda has been associated with constituency development and community-oriented initiatives in the FCT. His political activities have particularly focused on grassroots representation, youth empowerment and development issues affecting communities across Abuja. He has also received several awards and recognitions for his legislative and community activities.

In March 2026, Aduda resigned from the PDP after many years with the party and subsequently joined the APC. His move brought him back into active political discussions ahead of the 2027 general election, following his long career representing the FCT in the National Assembly.

With more than two decades of legislative and political experience, Tanimu Philip Aduda remains a prominent figure in FCT politics, having served at both the House of Representatives and Senate levels and maintained a longstanding connection with grassroots political activities in Abuja.
