Hon. Sunday Karimi is a Nigerian politician, businessman, and public administrator who represents Kogi West Senatorial District in the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has served in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Sunday Karimi was born on 9 September 1968 in Kogi State, Nigeria. He received his early education in the state before pursuing higher education. He developed professional experience in business, administration, and public affairs before becoming actively involved in politics.
Before entering the National Assembly, Karimi was involved in private business and community activities. His experience outside politics gave him an understanding of entrepreneurship, employment, local economic development, and the challenges faced by communities in Kogi State.
His political career became prominent when he contested for a seat in the House of Representatives. In the 2011 general elections, he was elected to represent Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency of Kogi State. He was subsequently re-elected and served multiple terms in the House.
During his time in the House of Representatives, Karimi participated in legislative debates, committee activities, and constituency development programmes. His legislative interests included infrastructure, education, agriculture, healthcare, security, economic development, and youth empowerment.
In the 2023 general elections, Sunday Karimi contested for the Kogi West Senatorial District seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He won the election and was inaugurated as a member of the 10th National Assembly on 13 June 2023.
As a senator, Karimi has participated actively in legislative proceedings, oversight functions, and policy discussions. He has been particularly involved in issues concerning national security, infrastructure, agriculture, economic development, education, and public accountability.
His constituency representation has also focused on community development. Through various initiatives, he has supported programmes involving education, healthcare, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, infrastructure, and assistance to vulnerable communities across Kogi West.
