Biography of Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu

Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu is a Nigerian politician, information technology expert, businessman, and public administrator who represents Ogun Central Senatorial District in the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and previously served as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Shuaib Afolabi Salisu was born on 3 August 1964 in Ogun State, Nigeria. He received his early education in Ogun State, including at Oke-Ona Grammar School, before proceeding to the University of Lagos, where he pursued studies in computer science and management.

He obtained qualifications including a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree in Computer Science, and Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA). He also undertook executive training and professional development programmes, building expertise in information technology, business intelligence, administration, and management.

Before entering active politics, Salisu developed a career in the information technology and corporate sectors. He worked with organisations in the banking and oil and gas industries, including Equatorial Trust Bank, Pacific Merchant Bank, DevCom Merchant Bank, Total, and Mobil.

He later became an entrepreneur and founded Simplex Automation Systems Limited, an information technology company. Through his professional career, he developed expertise in ICT, business intelligence, automation, management, and digital technology.

Salisu gradually became involved in politics and public administration in Ogun State. He served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Ibikunle Amosun, gaining experience in government administration and political strategy.

He later became Chief of Staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun, a position he held from 2019 to 2023. In that role, he was involved in coordinating government activities, administration, policy implementation, and relations between the governor's office and various government institutions.

In the 2023 general elections, Salisu contested for the Ogun Central Senatorial District seat under the platform of the APC. He won the election and was inaugurated as a member of the 10th National Assembly in June 2023.
