About Shammah Tony Bala (Hon. )

Hon. Tony Bala Shammah, commonly known as Tony Bala-Shammah, is a Nigerian businessman, community leader and politician from Nasarawa State. He is associated with the Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency, which comprises three local government areas in Nasarawa North. He has built a public profile through his business activities, community engagement and involvement in the political affairs of the state.

Before entering elective politics, Tony Bala Shammah was known primarily as a businessman with interests in the private sector. His activities have extended beyond commercial affairs into community and social development initiatives, particularly in Nasarawa North. He has also supported programmes focused on young people and community organisations in the state.

Shammah has been involved in advocacy for greater participation in politics, particularly among young people and women. In his public engagements, he has spoken about the importance of citizens participating actively in the electoral process and choosing representatives based on their records and ability to serve their communities.

His political profile became more prominent during preparations for the 2027 general elections, when he sought the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination for the Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency. At the party's primary election in May 2026, Shammah secured 38,333 votes, defeating the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Jeremiah Umaru, who received 4,061 votes.

Following his emergence from the primary, Tony Bala Shammah became the APC's candidate for the constituency. In June 2026, he was among Nasarawa State's APC National Assembly candidates who received their Independent National Electoral Commission nomination forms from Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Beyond his political activities, Shammah has continued to participate in community-development initiatives in Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and Wamba. In 2026, he was among individuals who pledged support for youth skills-development programmes, including initiatives designed to provide practical training and improve employment opportunities for young people.

For the 2027 general elections, Tony Bala Shammah is therefore the APC candidate for the Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency. His candidacy represents his transition from business and community activities into a direct contest for federal legislative representation, as he seeks to represent the three local government areas in the House of Representatives.
