Sokoto | House of representatives
Sayudi Almustapha, also known as Sayudi Almustapha Gada, is a Nigerian politician and public administrator from Sokoto State who is associated with the Goronyo/Gada Federal Constituency. He became prominent in the lead-up to the 2027 general election after the All Progressives Congress (APC) adopted him as its consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat covering Gada and Goronyo Local Government Areas. The APC candidate list identifies him as its candidate for the constituency.
Before becoming prominent as a political candidate, Almustapha had a career in the Sokoto State Civil Service. In January 2025, Governor Ahmad Aliyu approved his appointment as an Acting Permanent Secretary, placing him among senior officials appointed to strengthen the administration of the state civil service. His appointment was announced alongside those of other senior civil servants and took effect immediately.
In April 2025, Almustapha was confirmed as one of the Permanent Secretaries in the Sokoto State Civil Service. During a wider redeployment of permanent secretaries, he was assigned to the Department of Security Services. The state government directed all affected permanent secretaries to complete the handover and assumption of duties by 6 May 2025.
His background in public administration therefore formed an important part of his professional experience before his entry into electoral politics. His service as a senior civil servant exposed him to the workings of government administration and public-sector management. However, publicly available sources do not currently provide sufficient verified information about his date of birth, educational institutions, academic qualifications, family background or early career, so these details should not be stated without additional reliable documentation.
Almustapha's political profile became more prominent in May 2026, when the APC in Sokoto State adopted him as its consensus candidate for the Goronyo/Gada Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election. The adoption was reported at a gathering in Gada involving party leaders, stakeholders, ward executives and other party representatives from the two local government areas.
Following his adoption, Almustapha spoke about the importance of the constituency's political development and expressed appreciation to APC leaders and stakeholders for their support. He stated that the endorsement represented a collective aspiration for unity and effective representation and pledged to work with the party structures across Gada and Goronyo. These statements are campaign-period positions attributable to him rather than established legislative achievements.
His activities during the 2026 political period have also included engagement with youth-development initiatives. In June 2026, while identified as the APC House of Representatives candidate for Gada/Goronyo, Almustapha visited the Sokoto Marshal Training Camp, where he interacted with trainees from Gada and Goronyo. During the visit, he donated more than ₦1 million to participants and spoke about skills development, employment and community service.
The Goronyo/Gada Federal Constituency comprises the Goronyo and Gada Local Government Areas of Sokoto State. For the 2027 election, available candidate records list Sayudi Almustapha as the APC candidate among contestants from several political parties. The election remains a future contest, and available records show no election result at this stage.
Sayudi Almustapha's career thus combines senior civil-service experience with emerging electoral politics. His appointment as a Permanent Secretary in the Sokoto State Civil Service in 2025 preceded his emergence as the APC's consensus candidate for Goronyo/Gada in 2026. As the APC candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election, his political career has moved from public administration into direct electoral competition for federal legislative representation.
