Sokoto | House of representatives
Hon. Sa'adu Mohammed, also known as Sa'adu Nabunkari, is a Nigerian politician from Sokoto State and a member of the House of Representatives representing the Binji/Silame Federal Constituency. He is a long-serving legislator whose political career has included previous service in the National Assembly and a return to the House in the 10th National Assembly. His public career has been closely associated with representation of the people of Binji and Silame and with grassroots political activities in Sokoto State.
Sa'adu Nabunkari was born on 20 January 1968. According to parliamentary records, his highest stated educational qualification is the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Publicly available records provide limited information about his early life, family background and professional activities before entering politics, so those aspects of his biography are not sufficiently documented to give a detailed account without risking speculation.
His political career at the federal level dates back to the early 2010s. He previously served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015, giving him his first experience of national legislative responsibilities. After leaving the House, he remained involved in politics and subsequently contested the Binji/Silame Federal Constituency seat again. His return to the National Assembly demonstrates the continuity of his political involvement in the constituency.
Nabunkari also contested the 2019 House of Representatives election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress. The Independent National Electoral Commission's published result for Binji/Silame records Mohammed Nabunkari Sa'adu as the APC candidate with 20,970 votes. The election, however, was won by Mani Maishinko Katami of the Peoples Democratic Party, and a subsequent legal challenge by Sa'adu Nabunkari was dismissed by the Court of Appeal in Sokoto in November 2019.
He eventually returned to the House of Representatives through the 2023 general election. The House proceedings published at the beginning of the 10th Assembly list Nabunkari Saadu Mohammed as the representative of Binji/Silame Federal Constituency under the APC. The National Assembly's official member profile likewise identifies him as the APC representative for Binji/Silame.
During the 10th National Assembly, Sa'adu Nabunkari has continued to focus his political career on constituency representation. Parliamentary monitoring records currently provide relatively limited publicly indexed information about specific bills and petitions personally sponsored by him, while his official National Assembly profile does not list sponsored bills. His public profile has nevertheless been associated with issues including rural roads, food security and agricultural production, which are particularly relevant to communities in his constituency.
His constituency, Binji/Silame Federal Constituency, comprises Binji and Silame Local Government Areas of Sokoto State. Representation of the constituency places him in a position to participate in federal legislation while also raising local development concerns at the national level. His political experience at both the beginning of the 2010s and during the current 10th Assembly gives him experience spanning different periods of Nigeria's federal legislative politics.
For the 2027 general election, there is an important discrepancy in publicly available candidate records. The APC's own candidate platform lists Sa'adu Mohammed as its House of Representatives candidate for Binji/Silame, while another database reproducing the final candidate list published in September 2026 identifies a candidate named “Sa'adu Mohammed” under the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), alongside a different candidate listed under the APC. Because these records conflict, his exact party status for the 2027 election should be treated cautiously rather than presenting either record as unquestionably definitive.
Overall, Sa'adu Mohammed's political career is defined by several years of legislative involvement, particularly his representation of Binji/Silame at the federal level. His career includes an earlier term in the House, an unsuccessful 2019 return bid followed by legal proceedings, and his successful return to the National Assembly in 2023. As the 2027 election approaches, his name remains associated with the Binji/Silame constituency, although the conflicting candidate records mean that his final party affiliation for that election requires careful verification.
