Biography of Hon. Rahis Abdulkadir

Hon. Rahis Abdulkadir is a Nigerian politician and legislator from Borno State. He was born on 30 June 1968 and represents the Maiduguri Metropolitan Federal Constituency of Borno State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is a returning member of the 10th National Assembly.

Abdulkadir began his political career in the 1990s. In 1997, he was elected Ward Chairman of Shehuri South in Maiduguri under the defunct United Nigeria Democratic Party (UNDP). In 1999, he became Treasurer of the All Peoples Party (APP) in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.

He later served as Supervisory Councillor for Works in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council from 2001 to 2003. In 2003, he was appointed to the board of El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club and subsequently became Chairman of the club's board. Between 2006 and 2011, he served two consecutive terms as Borno State Youth Leader.

In 2009, Abdulkadir was appointed Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Borno State and later served as Special Adviser on Youth Development. From 2011 to 2014, he served as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, where he was involved in local government administration and community development.

Abdulkadir first became a member of the House of Representatives in 2015, representing Maiduguri Metropolitan Federal Constituency. He returned to the National Assembly in 2019 and was re-elected in 2023, making the 10th National Assembly his third term as a federal legislator.

As a member of the House of Representatives, Abdulkadir has participated in legislative activities concerning education, employment, infrastructure, renewable energy and development in Maiduguri. He has also sponsored legislative proposals relating to the establishment of an ICT Training and Technology Centre and a renewable energy technology development institute in Maiduguri.

In May 2026, Abdulkadir retained the APC ticket for the Maiduguri Metropolitan Federal Constituency after winning the party's direct primary with 38,576 votes, making him the party's candidate for the constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.

Rahis Abdulkadir's career spans grassroots politics, local government administration, state government service and federal legislative representation. His public service experience has particularly included youth development, local government administration and constituency representation in Maiduguri.
