About Oluga Taiwo Olukemi (Hon.)

Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga is a Nigerian politician and former member of the House of Representatives from Osun State. She represented the Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in the National Assembly between 2019 and 2023. She is also a former member of the Pan-African Parliament and has been involved in political and public service activities focused on representation, women’s participation in politics and community development.

Oluga was born in 1975 and is from Osun State. Available biographical records identify her as a politician whose career has combined public service, political participation and advocacy for greater involvement of women in governance. Her political activities have particularly drawn attention to the importance of women's representation in Nigeria's political institutions.

Her political career gained national prominence when she contested the Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general election. She won the election with 36,876 votes and subsequently became a member of the Ninth National Assembly. Her election continued a long period of female representation in the constituency, which had previously been represented by other women including Patricia Olubunmi Etteh and Ayo Hulayat Omidiran.

During her tenure in the House of Representatives, Oluga participated in several legislative committees, including committees dealing with Rural Development, Tourism and Police Affairs. She was also associated with parliamentary activities concerning women's participation in governance. In her public statements while serving as a lawmaker, she emphasized legislation that would benefit her constituents and the wider Nigerian population, while also discussing the need for more women to participate actively in politics.

Oluga's approach to constituency representation included engagement with the people of Ayedaade, Irewole and Isokan. During her time in office, she spoke about fulfilling the commitments she made during her election campaign and described effective lawmaking and representation as central responsibilities of a federal legislator. Her tenure ended in 2023 after she was not returned to the House for another term.

After leaving the House of Representatives, Oluga continued to remain involved in public affairs. In February 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed her as one of the members of the National Assembly Service Commission, representing the South-West geopolitical zone. Members of the commission were appointed for a five-year renewable term, placing her in an institutional role connected with the administration and development of Nigeria's federal legislative service.

Oluga has subsequently returned to the electoral arena. The APC's 2027 candidate platform lists her as its House of Representatives candidate for the Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency, while election records also list her among the candidates for the constituency. Her return marks another stage in her political career after her earlier service in the Ninth National Assembly.

For the 2027 election, Oluga is therefore seeking to represent Ayedaade, Irewole and Isokan once again at the Federal House of Representatives. Her political career includes service in the Ninth National Assembly, participation in parliamentary committees, membership of the Pan-African Parliament and, since 2025, membership of the National Assembly Service Commission. Her candidacy places her among the politicians contesting for legislative representation in Osun State ahead of the 2027 general election.
