Ondo | House of representatives
Hon. Donald Kimikanboh Ojogo is a Nigerian journalist, politician and public administrator from Ondo State. He represents the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives and is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is serving in the 10th National Assembly and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on the North Central Development Commission.
Ojogo was born on October 25, 1968, in Arogbo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State. He received his early and secondary education in his community before proceeding to the University of Lagos, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in History. He later earned a Master’s degree in History and Strategic Studies from the same university, building an academic background that complemented his subsequent career in journalism, public communication and government.
Before entering politics, Ojogo established himself as a journalist. He worked with several Nigerian newspapers, including The Guardian, Daily Independent, Nigerian Tribune and Leadership. During his journalism career, he held senior editorial responsibilities and developed experience in political reporting, public affairs and communications. His media background later became relevant to his work in government, particularly in roles involving public information and administration.
Ojogo subsequently moved into government and public service. He served as Press Secretary to Governor Olusegun Agagu of Ondo State and later became Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor. He also served as Commissioner for Lands and Housing and subsequently as Commissioner for Information and Orientation under the administration of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. These appointments gave him experience in state administration, public communication, housing and land matters, as well as government policy implementation.
His move into the National Assembly followed his involvement in Ondo State politics and his earlier attempt to secure the federal constituency. After an unsuccessful attempt in 2019, Ojogo contested the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 general election on the APC platform and was elected to the House of Representatives. The Independent National Electoral Commission's list of members-elect identifies him as the APC representative for Ese-Odo/Ilaje.
As a federal legislator, Ojogo has sponsored bills and motions dealing with development issues affecting his constituency and Ondo State. His legislative proposals have included bills seeking the establishment of a Federal University of Oil and Gas Technology in Igbokoda, a National Institute for Vocational and Entrepreneurial Studies in Agadagba Obon-Arogbo, and a Nigerian Youths Trust Fund. He has also sponsored motions concerning flood disasters and the environmental challenges affecting oil-producing and coastal communities in Ondo State.
At the constituency level, his activities have included support for education, scholarships, infrastructure and community development. He has also raised issues concerning the challenges facing coastal and oil-producing communities, including flooding, environmental degradation and access to infrastructure. In July 2026, Ojogo emerged as the APC candidate for the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency for the 2027 House of Representatives election. He subsequently began constituency engagements ahead of the 2027 general election, seeking another term in the National Assembly.
