Biography of Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu

Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu is a Nigerian politician, businessman and accountant from Delta State. He was born on 23 February 1965 and hails from Onicha-Ukwu in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. He is widely known for his representation of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Elumelu obtained his secondary school education at the Lagos State School of Art and Science before proceeding to Yaba College of Technology, where he earned a National Diploma in Business Administration in 1989. He later studied Accounting at Edo State University, Ekpoma, graduating in 1993, and obtained a Master of Business Administration from the same institution.

Before entering politics, Elumelu worked in the financial sector, including at Gulf Bank, where he gained experience in credit management, marketing and treasury operations. Elumelu was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2007 to represent Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency. He was also involved in legislative oversight of the power sector during his time as committee chairman.

After leaving the House in 2015, Elumelu returned to the National Assembly in 2019 after winning the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat. During the 9th National Assembly, his colleagues elected him Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, a position he held until the end of the assembly in 2023.

As a legislator, Elumelu has been associated with issues including power supply, healthcare, education, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, and constituency development. He has also sponsored and supported legislative initiatives concerning development in Delta State and the wider country.

In the 2023 general election, Elumelu contested again for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat. The election result was initially challenged through legal proceedings, with subsequent court decisions concerning the outcome. In the 2026 political season, he became active again in preparations for the 2027 election and began consultations concerning a return to the House of Representatives.
