About Muhammad Daha Umar Faruk

Muhammad Daha Umar Faruk, popularly referred to as Faruk Umar Daha, is a Nigerian traditional title holder, community development advocate and political aspirant from Katsina State. He is the eldest son of the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, and holds the traditional title of Danburam Daura. He is also the District Head of Baure in Katsina State, a position through which he has been involved in community leadership and local development.

Daha Umar Faruk has developed a public profile through his involvement in youth development and community-oriented activities. He has particularly been associated with sports development in Daura and the wider Katsina area. He is the proprietor of Junior Danburam Football Club of Daura, through which he has supported young footballers and participated in initiatives aimed at promoting sporting activities among youths.

His traditional responsibilities as District Head of Baure have also placed him in a position of responsibility within the Daura Emirate. As Danburam Daura, he is part of the traditional leadership structure of the emirate, while his activities in community development have helped establish his profile beyond his traditional role.

In 2026, Daha Umar Faruk entered partisan politics by declaring his intention to contest for the Baure/Zango Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections. He said his decision followed calls from people in the constituency who wanted him to represent them at the National Assembly. His entry into the race attracted attention because of his background as a member of the Daura royal family and a serving district head.

He subsequently secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Baure/Zango Federal Constituency through a consensus arrangement. His emergence positioned him as the party's candidate for the constituency ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election, replacing the incumbent member, Lawal Sani, as the APC candidate.

Faruk Umar Daha's political ambition therefore represents a transition from traditional and community leadership into formal elective politics. His background in the Daura Emirate, involvement in youth and sports development, and experience as a district head form the major elements of his public profile as he seeks to represent the Baure/Zango Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
