Hon. Mohammed Jafaru Ali, also known as Jafaru Ali or Shattiman Borgu, is a Nigerian politician from Niger State. He represents the Agwara/Borgu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was born on 1 February 1972 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.
Before becoming a federal legislator, Jafaru Ali was involved in grassroots politics and public administration in Niger State. His early political experience included serving as a legislative aide at the National Assembly in 2003 and later becoming involved in the political organization of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. He served as the Niger State PDP Youth Leader in 2007, giving him experience in party organization and youth mobilisation.
Ali later served as Chairman of Agwara Local Government Area in 2016. His period in local government administration provided him with direct experience in grassroots governance and community affairs, particularly in the Agwara area. His political career subsequently developed toward federal representation, with his experience at both local and national levels contributing to his political profile.
He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2019, representing the Agwara/Borgu Federal Constituency. He secured another term in the 2023 general election on the APC platform, becoming a member of the 10th National Assembly. His constituency covers Agwara and Borgu Local Government Areas of Niger State, an area where issues such as infrastructure, security, agriculture and access to public services are important aspects of representation.
Within the National Assembly, Jafaru Ali has participated in legislative and constituency activities and has served as Chairman of the House Committee on Islamic Pilgrim Affairs. His legislative responsibilities have included oversight of matters relating to the organization and administration of Hajj and other Islamic pilgrimage affairs.
Beyond his formal legislative duties, Ali has maintained a grassroots-oriented political profile. His activities have included engagement with communities in Agwara and Borgu and support for development and empowerment initiatives. His public profile has also included advocacy on security concerns affecting his constituency, particularly following security incidents in the area.
Mohammed Jafaru Ali's political career therefore spans grassroots party organization, local government administration, legislative assistance and elected federal representation. Having served in the House since 2019 and retained his Agwara/Borgu seat in 2023, he remains one of the political figures associated with the constituency's representation at the federal level.
