Kano | House of representatives
Mohammad Garba Ibrahim is a Nigerian politician from Kano State who represents the Gwale Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He was born on 12 June 1958 and has built a long career in public service and politics, particularly through his involvement in Kano State politics and federal legislative affairs. He is also known by variations of his name, including Muhammed Garba Ibrahim and Garba Ibrahim Mohammed, in different public records.
Garba Ibrahim received his early education at Masallachi Primary School before proceeding to Government Technical College, Wudil, in Kano State. He later continued his education in France, where he attended Lycée Duhainaut Valemobuise and obtained further technical and professional training. His educational background is also recorded as including a BTS qualification from France.
Before his current legislative career, Garba Ibrahim was involved in professional and community activities in Kano. His background in technical education and experience outside the formal political arena helped prepare the foundation for his later involvement in public affairs. Over the years, he became increasingly active in politics and developed a strong connection with the people and political structures of Gwale.
His political career at the federal level includes an earlier term in the House of Representatives before returning to the National Assembly in the 2023 general election. In 2023, he contested the Gwale Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and was elected to the 10th National Assembly. His election marked his return to federal legislative service and made him a second-term member of the House of Representatives.
As a legislator, Garba Ibrahim has participated in the law-making and oversight responsibilities of the House of Representatives. His legislative interests have included matters relating to public institutions, healthcare, financial institutions, criminal justice, education and other issues of national development. His activities have also included engagement with constituency matters affecting residents of Gwale.
Garba Ibrahim's political career has continued to evolve as Kano's political landscape has changed. For the 2027 general election, he is listed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Gwale Federal Constituency. His candidacy represents a change from his 2023 NNPP platform and places him within the APC's current political structure in Kano State.
With several years of political and legislative experience, Mohammad Garba Ibrahim remains an established figure in the representation of Gwale Federal Constituency. His career combines technical education, public service and participation in federal politics, with his work in the National Assembly centred on legislative representation and issues affecting his constituency and the wider Nigerian public.
