Niger | House of representatives
Hon. Mamudu Abdullahi is a Nigerian politician from Niger State and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He represents the Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and has been involved in Niger State politics and public administration for several decades.
Mamudu Abdullahi was born on 26 June 1965. His early political career began at the local government level, where he served as an elected councillor for the Ekossa/Ekogbadegi Ward in Agaie Local Government Area between 1988 and 1989. He also served as a Supervisory Councillor in Agaie during the same period, giving him early experience in grassroots administration and local governance.
His political career later expanded to the state level. Between 1999 and 2003, Abdullahi served as the Niger State Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development. He subsequently served as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure from 2003 to 2006, where his responsibilities included issues relating to public infrastructure and development across the state.
Abdullahi also had an earlier connection with the National Assembly. He was elected to the House of Representatives during the transition programme of the 1990s, although that political transition was eventually terminated before the planned democratic process was completed. He later returned to elective politics under the Fourth Republic and became associated with the APC in Niger State.
In the 2019 general election, Mamudu Abdullahi was elected to represent the Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives on the APC platform. He retained the seat for the 10th National Assembly, continuing his representation of Agaie and Lapai at the federal level. His legislative activities have included sponsoring proposals relating to education, agriculture, healthcare and institutional development in his constituency.
Among the legislative initiatives associated with him are proposals for the establishment of a Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery in Lapai, a Federal College of Education in the area, the National Cereals Research Institute at Badeggi, and a national college focused on laboratory technology, health sciences and medical imaging in Agaie. These proposals reflect his legislative focus on education, healthcare, agriculture and professional training.
Mamudu Abdullahi continues to be identified with the APC and the political affairs of the Agaie/Lapai constituency. His career spans local government administration, state-level executive office and federal legislative service, giving him several decades of experience in public affairs and political representation in Niger State.
