Biography of Hon. Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu

Hon. Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, businesswoman and former beauty queen from Anambra State. Born on 22 June 1966, she is the daughter of the late Chief Justice Chuba Ikpeazu, who also served as chairman of the Nigerian Football Association.

Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu received her early education in Nigeria before continuing her studies in the United Kingdom and the United States. She obtained a bachelor's degree in Communications and a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles. She later obtained a bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Buckingham in England, graduating with First Class Honours.

Before entering politics, she gained national recognition in the beauty industry after winning the inaugural Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria title in 1986. She subsequently represented Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant and was crowned Miss Africa. She later pursued a career in business, including involvement in the oil-servicing sector.

Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu entered politics and was elected to the House of Representatives in 1999 to represent the Onitsha North/Onitsha South Federal Constituency of Anambra State. She returned to the National Assembly after winning the constituency in the 2019 general election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). During her legislative career, she has served on several committees and has been involved in issues relating to social welfare, maritime affairs, education and constituency development.

As a legislator, she has promoted programmes focused on women and youth empowerment, education, healthcare and infrastructure. Her constituency interventions have included skills training, support for small businesses, educational projects, healthcare initiatives, transformers and other community-development projects.

Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu has also advocated for stronger social protection for vulnerable Nigerians. She sponsored legislative proposals addressing social security and welfare, reflecting her interest in improving support for disadvantaged members of society.

In 2026, she returned to the political contest for the Onitsha North/Onitsha South Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

With a background spanning law, business, public service and international pageantry, Hon. Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu remains one of the notable female political figures from Anambra State.
