Senator Konbowei Friday Benson is a Nigerian politician, public administrator, and businessman representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is widely recognized for his extensive experience in public administration, legislative leadership, and grassroots development.
Born on 3 February 1962 in Korokorosei, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Senator Benson began his career in business before venturing into public service. Over the years, he established himself as a respected leader with a strong commitment to governance, community development, and democratic leadership.
Before his election to the Senate, Senator Benson held several important public offices. He served as the Executive Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, and later as Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government. These positions provided him with extensive experience in policy formulation, legislative administration, and public sector management.
In the 2023 general elections, he was elected as the Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Since assuming office, he has focused on sponsoring and supporting legislation that promotes economic growth, infrastructure development, quality education, youth empowerment, improved public service delivery, and sustainable development.
