Kano | House of representatives
Kabir Abubakar Abubakar is a Nigerian politician from Kano State and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Born on 2 October 1981 in Bichi, Kano State, he represents the Bichi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He has served in the National Assembly since 2019 and has held important committee leadership positions.
Kabir began his education in Bichi, attending Hagagawa Primary School and Government Junior Secondary School, Bichi. He later proceeded to Dawakin Tofa Science College, where he completed his secondary education. He went on to the New York Institute of Technology in the United States, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a master's degree in Energy Management.
He entered federal politics and contested the Bichi Federal Constituency seat in the 2019 general election on the platform of the APC. He won the election and became a member of the 9th National Assembly. During that Assembly, he was appointed Chairman of the House Committee on Works, a position that placed him in charge of legislative oversight of major federal infrastructure projects.
As Chairman of the Works Committee, Kabir was involved in oversight of major road, bridge and transport projects across Nigeria. His committee monitored projects including the Abuja–Kano Road, Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Road, Lagos–Badagry Road, the Kano Light Rail Project and the Eko Bridge. He also participated in engagements with contractors and government agencies responsible for infrastructure delivery.
Kabir was re-elected to represent Bichi in the 2023 general election and became a member of the 10th National Assembly. He was subsequently appointed Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, giving him a central legislative role in the consideration and processing of Nigeria's federal budget.
Beyond committee responsibilities, Kabir has sponsored legislative proposals concerning education and public institutions. Among them was a bill seeking to establish a University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Bichi, as well as a bill concerning the establishment of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation. He has also supported educational and constituency-development initiatives in Bichi.
As Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Kabir's responsibilities include working with other lawmakers on the examination of the federal government's proposed expenditure and the legislative budget process. His political career has therefore combined constituency representation with significant responsibilities in national infrastructure and public finance.

His career in the National Assembly has been marked by committee leadership, legislative oversight, constituency development and participation in major national policy and budgetary processes.
