Hon. John Shekwogaza Gabaya is a Nigerian politician and grassroots administrator from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He is associated with Bwari Area Council and has built his political career around local government administration and community development. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is the party’s candidate for the Municipal/Bwari Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Gabaya has a background in public administration and grassroots politics. Records from the Independent National Electoral Commission list him with qualifications including the First School Leaving Certificate, West African Examination Council qualification and a Bachelor of Science degree. Earlier electoral records also show his participation in FCT politics as a candidate for the Bwari Area Council chairmanship.
In 2019, Gabaya contested the Bwari Area Council chairmanship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Following a supplementary election, he was declared the winner after securing 31,114 votes. He subsequently served as Executive Chairman of Bwari Area Council and was involved in the administration of the council and its various departments.
During his tenure as chairman, Gabaya's administration was involved in community-focused issues including rural infrastructure, education, agriculture, healthcare and security. He also worked with security agencies on efforts to address security concerns in communities within Bwari Area Council.
For the 2027 general election, Gabaya is contesting the Municipal/Bwari Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the APC. His political career therefore spans grassroots administration in Bwari Area Council and a move toward federal legislative representation in the National Assembly.
