About Garba Koko Salisu (Hon.)

Hon. Garba Koko Salisu, commonly known as Salisu Garba Koko, is a Nigerian politician and federal lawmaker from Kebbi State. He represents the Koko-Besse/Maiyama Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He was born on 2 February 1964 and has built a political career through legislative service and participation in public affairs in Kebbi State.

Salisu Garba Koko began his education at Federal College Giginya, where he obtained a Grade II Certificate in 1984. He later continued his education at Niger State Polytechnic, where he obtained a Diploma in 2013. His educational background provided a foundation for his subsequent involvement in public service and politics.

Koko entered elective politics at the federal level in 2015, when he was elected to the House of Representatives to represent the Koko-Besse/Maiyama constituency. He subsequently returned to the National Assembly and became a serving member of the 10th House of Representatives. His legislative interests have included areas such as health, agriculture, education, environment and housing, which are closely connected to the social and economic needs of his constituents.

During the 10th National Assembly, Koko served as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Banking Regulations. The committee's responsibilities include oversight of the banking sector and relevant regulatory institutions. His legislative activities have therefore extended beyond constituency matters into federal economic and financial oversight.

In February 2025, Salisu Garba Koko defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defection was formally announced on the floor of the House of Representatives. Koko cited the internal crisis within the PDP as the reason for his decision to leave the party. He subsequently continued his legislative activities under the APC.

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Koko retained the APC's ticket for the Koko-Besse/Maiyama Federal Constituency through the party's primary process in Kebbi State. His emergence as the party's candidate means he is seeking another term in the House of Representatives, where he would continue to represent the interests of communities across Koko-Besse and Maiyama if elected.
