Hon. Garba Alhassan Ado, popularly known as Alhassan Doguwa, is a Nigerian politician from Kano State and a long-serving member of the House of Representatives. He was born on 14 August 1965 and is from Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State. He represents the Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Garba Alhassan Ado studied Mass Communication and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in the field. His educational background in communication has complemented his long career in politics and public service. He entered national politics at a relatively young age and has spent several decades involved in legislative affairs and political administration.

His legislative career dates back to the early 1990s, when he was first elected to the House of Representatives. After a period away from the National Assembly, he returned to the House in 2007 and subsequently secured re-election in 2011. During his time in the legislature, he served in several committees and became involved in issues relating to development, government programmes and the interests of his constituency.

In 2015, Alhassan Doguwa was elected Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, a position he held during the Eighth Assembly from 2015 to 2019. He returned to the House in subsequent elections and continued to represent Doguwa/Tudun Wada. His long tenure has made him one of the more experienced legislators from Kano State.

Beyond the National Assembly, Doguwa has also held political and governmental positions. He served as a Special Adviser to the Kano State Government and also worked in advisory roles connected with governmental and political affairs. His career has therefore combined legislative responsibilities with political administration at both state and federal levels.

Garba Alhassan Ado has remained politically active in Kano State and has maintained his connection with Doguwa and Tudun Wada communities. His political career has largely centred on representation of the federal constituency and participation in national legislative affairs. He has also received traditional recognition in Kano and was conferred with the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 2022.

For the 2027 general election, Garba Alhassan Ado is listed as the APC candidate for the Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency. His candidacy continues a long period of representation in the constituency and places his extensive experience in the National Assembly at the centre of his current political career.
