Dr. Eunice Thomas is a Nigerian politician, public administrator, educationist and advocate for women and community development from Akwa Ibom State. She has built a career spanning public service, education, social development and the energy sector.
Dr. Thomas previously served as a Commissioner in the Akwa Ibom State Government, where she held responsibilities in the Ministries of Women Affairs and Education between 2007 and 2013. Her years in government gave her experience in public administration and policies relating to education, women, children and social development.
Beyond government, she has been involved in initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and opportunities available to women and vulnerable members of society. She is the founder of the Global Women Initiative (GWI), through which she has promoted programmes focused on women's development and empowerment.
Dr. Eunice Thomas has also maintained connections with Nigeria's energy and petroleum sector. In 2025, she was appointed to the Advisory Board of Women in Energy, Oil and Gas (WEOG). She has also served as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Politically, Dr. Thomas is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). She emerged as the party's candidate for the Eket/Esit Eket/Ibeno/Onna Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election. Her candidacy places her in the contest to represent four local government areas in the National Assembly.
With experience in government administration, education, women's development and the energy sector, Dr. Eunice Thomas brings a broad public-service background to her political career. Her 2027 candidacy represents a further step in her involvement in public affairs and community representation in Akwa Ibom State.
