Biography of Eric Opah
Eric Opah is a Nigerian entrepreneur, logistics expert, philanthropist, and politician, widely recognized for his contributions to the shipping, freight forwarding, aviation, and supply chain industries. He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fortune Global Shipping & Logistics Limited, an indigenous logistics company established in 2006 that has grown into an international provider of freight forwarding, maritime, air cargo, and energy logistics services.
Opah earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration before beginning his professional career with Panalpina World Transport Group, where he gained valuable experience in international logistics. He later served as Director of Cargo Operations for China Southern Airlines in Nigeria, helping to strengthen the airline's cargo operations and further developing his expertise in global supply chain management.
Under his leadership, Fortune Global Shipping & Logistics has expanded beyond Nigeria into international markets and has participated in major oil and gas logistics projects, including work related to the Egina Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) project. Opah has consistently advocated for the development of indigenous logistics companies, improved infrastructure, greater transparency, and increased local participation in Nigeria's maritime and energy sectors.
Beyond business, Eric Opah is committed to community development and youth empowerment. He established the Eric Opah Foundation to support education and empowerment initiatives and also founded the Mbubo Transformation Group, which promotes community development projects in Abia State. He has served in leadership roles within professional and business organizations, including the Nigeria-America Chamber of Commerce, and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Logistics as well as the Nigerian Ports and Terminal Management Academy.
In recognition of his achievements in business and industry, Opah received an honorary Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the American Heritage University of Southern California in 2023. The award acknowledged his commitment to excellence, innovation, and leadership in the logistics industry.
In recent years, Eric Opah has become increasingly active in politics in Abia State. He has advocated policies focused on industrialization, job creation, infrastructure development, transparent governance, and economic growth. In 2026, he emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Abia State governorship election, presenting a vision centered on transforming the state's economy through investment, manufacturing, and improved public administration.
Today, Eric Opah is regarded as one of Nigeria's notable business leaders in the logistics and maritime sector.
