Biography of Hon. Blessing Egbara Otobha

Hon. Blessing Egbara Otobha is a Nigerian politician, entrepreneur, humanitarian and public administrator from Cross River State. She is associated with Obubra Local Government Area and has built a career spanning business, social development and public service.

Egbara began her education at St. Francis Primary School, Obubra, and later proceeded to the University of Calabar, where she studied Management. She subsequently pursued postgraduate studies, including a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Before entering elective politics, Egbara established herself in the private sector. She served as Managing Director of Arowoyong Investments Limited, a company with operations in Abuja and Calabar. Her professional activities also included entrepreneurship and community-oriented initiatives.

Egbara later entered public service under the administration of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State. She served as Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, where she was involved in programmes aimed at supporting vulnerable people, women, children and other disadvantaged groups.

During her tenure as commissioner, Egbara participated in the implementation of social intervention programmes, including welfare initiatives and the distribution of relief materials to vulnerable residents. She was also involved in the state's response to the social and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Egbara subsequently became active in electoral politics. In 2026, she emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election. Her emergence followed the withdrawal of other aspirants and consultations within the party.
