Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has been the Governor of Kogi State since January 27, 2024, following his victory in the November 2023 gubernatorial election. A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he succeeded Yahaya Bello. He was born on February 7, 1982, in Okene, Kogi State.
Governor Ododo holds a strong academic background in accounting, including a B.Sc. from Ahmadu Bello University, an MBA, and a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Lagos. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).
Professionally, he built his career in public finance and auditing, serving in institutions such as PHCN, NAPTIN, and as Auditor-General for Local Governments in Kogi State from 2016. He has also been active in youth leadership, serving in the Nigerian Youth Parliament and as Chairman of the Kogi State Youth Council.
Since assuming office, Governor Ododo has pursued a policy of Continuity and Consolidation, focusing on security, infrastructure development, economic growth, social welfare, healthcare, and education.
