Kano State | House of representatives
Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, also known as Abba Bichi, is a Nigerian politician and engineer serving as a member of the House of Representatives for the Bichi Federal Constituency in Kano State.
Born on October 2, 1981, in the Hagagawa quarters of Bichi, Kano State, he is the son of a former Kano State House of Assembly member and commissioner. He holds a B.Sc. in Interdisciplinary Studies and an M.Sc. in Energy Management from the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT).
First elected in 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and re-elected in 2023, he currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations and previously chaired the House Committee on Works (2019–2023). He is recognized for sponsoring thousands of students for higher education, leading major infrastructure projects including school reconstructions, mini-stadiums, computer labs, and housing units, and for his legislative role in passing major fiscal legislation such as the N43.5 trillion Appropriation Repeal and Re-enactment Bill in late 2025.
