About Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang

Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, and public administrator who currently serves as the Governor of Plateau State. He assumed office on 29 May 2023 after winning the Plateau State governorship election. Before becoming governor, he served as Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area and built a reputation as a grassroots politician and legal practitioner.

Early Life and Education

Caleb Mutfwang was born on 12 March 1965 in Wussasa, Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. He is originally from Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. He attended LEA Primary School Ampang-West, Mangu, from 1973 to 1977 and later proceeded to Boys Secondary School, Gindiri, where he graduated in 1982.

After secondary school, he briefly worked with the Federal Office of Statistics and the Nigerian Bank for Commerce and Industry before pursuing higher education at the School of Preliminary Studies, Keffi. He later attended the University of Jos where he studied law. He also attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989 as a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Political Career

Mutfwang began his political journey at the grassroots level and later became Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). During his tenure, he was recognized for his leadership and community development initiatives.

In 2023, he contested for the governorship of Plateau State and emerged victorious. He was sworn in as Governor on 29 May 2023, succeeding Simon Bako Lalong. His administration has focused on security, economic development, infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment, and restoring peace across Plateau State.

Leadership and Governance

Governor Mutfwang’s administration promotes the vision of rebuilding Plateau State through unity, justice, infrastructure renewal, investment promotion, and human capital development. His government has emphasized peaceful coexistence among communities and improving public services across the state.

Personal Life

Caleb Mutfwang is married to Helen Mutfwang, and they are blessed with children. He is a Christian and is known for his strong involvement in community and faith-based activities.
