AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (born February 5, 1960) is a Nigerian businessman and politician serving his second term as Governor of Kwara State and, as of 2026, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).
Born in Zaria, Kaduna State, he is the son of Alhaji A.G.F. AbdulRazaq (SAN), Northern Nigeria’s first lawyer. He was educated in Kaduna and Ilorin, earned his WASC from Government College, Kaduna, and later completed executive management training in Oxford, England.
Before politics, he built a strong business career in the oil and gas sector, founding NOPA Oil Services—the first indigenous Nigerian company to export crude oil—and leading First Fuels Limited.
His interests also span agriculture, construction, IT, and real estate.
Politically, he rose to prominence after winning the 2019 governorship election, ending the long-standing Saraki political dominance in Kwara State under the APC’s “Otoge” movement.
He was re-elected in 2023. Beyond state leadership, he became NGF Chairman in 2023 and was appointed Chairman of the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme in 2025. His 2026 budget emphasized project completion and security.
He is married to Amb. Prof. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, has three sons, practices Islam, and speaks Yoruba, English, and Hausa.
