Biography of Hon. Befford Anayo Onwuegbu

Hon. Befford Anayo Onwuegbu is a Nigerian engineer, businessman and politician from Enugu State. Born on 16 April 1961, he represents the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency of Enugu State in the House of Representatives. He was elected to the 10th National Assembly and initially served under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Onwuegbu studied at Aguata High School before proceeding to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1986. His professional background is primarily in engineering, construction and infrastructure development.

He is the founder and principal figure behind Anbeez Services Limited, an indigenous engineering and construction company established in 1990. The company has been involved in various construction and infrastructure projects, including roads, water projects and dam-related works. His business career established him as an entrepreneur with extensive experience in engineering and construction.

Beyond business, Onwuegbu has been involved in philanthropy and community development. He has supported educational initiatives through scholarships and contributed to infrastructure projects, including support for educational institutions. In 2020, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to the university and wider society.

Onwuegbu entered federal politics and was elected to represent Aninri/Awgu/Oji River in the House of Representatives. He was formally sworn in as a member of the 10th National Assembly in November 2023. In the 2027 election cycle, he is listed as the APC candidate for the same federal constituency.
