Biography of Hon. Austin Asema Achado

Hon. Austin Alfred Asema Achado is a Nigerian politician, architect, businessman and legislator from Benue State. He was born on 13 August 1962 at Udei in present-day Guma Local Government Area of Benue State and hails from Kyonov, Ngyohov District of Gwer Local Government Area.

Achado had his elementary education at St. Francis Primary School, Aliade, and his secondary education at Mount St. Gabriel’s Secondary School, Makurdi. He proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained an IJMB certificate, a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture and a Master of Science degree in Architecture.

He began his professional career in the Benue State Public Service in 1988 as a Pupil Architect. Over the course of eight years, he rose to the position of Principal Architect before voluntarily retiring from the service in 1996. He subsequently established Archtik Consultants, an architectural and multidisciplinary consultancy firm, and developed extensive experience in architecture, construction and business.

Achado also became involved in professional activities within the architectural sector. He has served in leadership positions within the Nigerian Institute of Architects and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects. His professional background has included architectural consultancy and involvement in projects across different parts of Nigeria.

Before entering elective politics, Achado was involved in community development initiatives, including interventions in education, infrastructure and economic empowerment. He later moved into mainstream politics and contested the 2023 House of Representatives election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the 2023 general election, Achado was elected to represent the Gwer East/Gwer West Federal Constituency of Benue State in the House of Representatives. He became a member of the 10th National Assembly, where he has participated in legislative activities and raised issues concerning infrastructure, security, education, agriculture and community development.

As a federal legislator, Achado has also pursued constituency-focused initiatives, including educational support and scholarship programmes. His public service agenda has emphasised youth and women development, infrastructure, security, education and healthcare, alongside efforts aimed at improving opportunities for people within Gwer East and Gwer West.

Achado's career therefore spans more than three decades of professional experience in architecture, public service, business and politics. His transition from the architectural profession and Benue State civil service to the National Assembly has made him one of the prominent representatives of the Gwer East/Gwer West constituency.
