Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello is a Nigerian politician, accountant, businessman, and former Governor of Kogi State. He served as the Governor of Kogi State from 2016 to 2024 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is known for his involvement in Nigerian politics, public administration, youth development, and economic affairs.

Yahaya Bello was born on 18 June 1975 in Agassa, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State. He received his early education in Kogi State before completing his secondary education at Government Secondary School, Suleja, Niger State.

He proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he studied Accounting and graduated in 1999. He later obtained a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) and developed professional expertise in accounting, financial management, and business administration.

Bello began his professional career during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, where he worked with the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission. He subsequently continued his career in accounting and rose through the ranks before moving into the private sector.

After gaining professional experience, Bello became involved in business and investments. His business interests included oil and gas, real estate, transportation, agriculture, and financial services. He also became involved in philanthropic activities, particularly initiatives supporting education and vulnerable members of society.

His political career became prominent during the 2015 Kogi State governorship election. Bello contested the APC governorship primary and emerged as the party's candidate following the death of the party's initial candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu, during the election period. Bello subsequently won the supplementary election and was sworn in as Governor of Kogi State on 27 January 2016.

As governor, Bello focused his administration on infrastructure development, education, healthcare, security, youth empowerment, and economic development. His government embarked on various road and public infrastructure projects while also implementing reforms in the education and healthcare sectors.

One of the major features of Bello's administration was its emphasis on youth participation in governance. His relatively young age when he became governor attracted considerable national attention, and he became one of the prominent advocates for greater involvement of young Nigerians in politics and leadership.

In the 2019 governorship election, Bello was re-elected for a second term. During his second term, his administration continued to focus on infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, agriculture, and human-capital development.

Bello also played an active role in national politics and within the APC. During and after his tenure as governor, he remained involved in political discussions concerning youth leadership, national development, party organization, and governance.

After completing his second term, Yahaya Bello left office on 27 January 2024, after serving eight years as Governor of Kogi State. He was succeeded by Usman Ododo.

Beyond politics, Bello has maintained interests in business, community development, and public affairs. His career has taken him from accounting and private enterprise into state-level political leadership.

Through his experience in accounting, business, politics, and public administration, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello has established himself as a prominent political figure from Kogi State. His eight-year tenure as governor represents a significant period in the political and developmental history of the state.
