About Ajilesoro Taofeek Abimbola (Hon.)

Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro is a Nigerian politician and public servant from Osun State. He represents the Ife Central/Ife East/Ife North/Ife South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He was first elected to the National Assembly in 2019 and returned in 2023, giving him continuous representation of the Ife Federal Constituency across the 9th and 10th National Assemblies. His constituency covers the four local government areas of Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North and Ife South.

Ajilesoro was born on May 15, 1978, and is an indigene of Ile-Ife. His name and public profile are closely associated with the Ajilesoro dynasty of Ile-Ife. Available electoral records show that his qualifications included the West African Examination Council (WAEC), while his National Assembly profile confirms his date of birth and representation of the Ife Federal Constituency.

His political career developed through grassroots activities in Ile-Ife and Osun State. He contested the Ife Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election and defeated the APC candidate to enter the 9th House of Representatives. He retained the seat in the 2023 general election, again winning the constituency for the PDP and becoming a member of the 10th National Assembly.

During his time in the National Assembly, Ajilesoro has participated in legislative activities concerning infrastructure, education, healthcare, employment and economic development. His recorded legislative proposals have included bills seeking the establishment of a Federal Institute of Fisheries Research in Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi State; the upgrade of Technical School Ile-Ode, Ile-Ife, to a Federal College of Education (Technical); and legislation concerning the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Industrial Training Fund and National Industrial Centre.

He has also used parliamentary motions to draw attention to issues affecting his constituency. In February 2024, he sponsored a motion concerning the non-engagement of staff reportedly recruited for the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital. The motion was adopted and referred to the relevant House committees for further consideration.

Ajilesoro has maintained an active constituency-development profile during his years in the House. In discussing his plans for another term, he highlighted infrastructure development, human-capacity building and constituency outreach among the areas associated with his representation. In April 2026, he formally communicated his intention to return to the House of Representatives in the 2027 election and met with APC leaders in the Ife Federal Constituency as part of that political process.

His political affiliation has changed during the current legislative term. He was elected in 2023 as a PDP member, but reports in 2025 documented his movement away from the PDP toward the APC. The National Assembly's current profile lists him under APC, while some other databases still retain his original PDP affiliation, reflecting differences in how the available records have been updated.

As the 2027 general election approaches, Ajilesoro remains a prominent political figure in the Ife Federal Constituency and has expressed his intention to seek another term in the House of Representatives. His political career to date has been centred largely on representing the four Ife local government areas at the federal level and participating in legislative and constituency-development activities.
