Ajakaye Rafiu Oriyomi is a Nigerian journalist, public communicator and political figure from Kwara State. He was born on 30 December in Lagos State and is originally from Alabe in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. He has built a career in journalism, media relations, public communication and government service.

Rafiu Ajakaye studied at Lagos State University (LASU), where he obtained a bachelor's degree in History and International Studies. His academic background, combined with his professional experience in journalism, helped establish his career in media and public communication.

Before entering government service, Ajakaye worked as a journalist and developed experience covering politics, governance and public affairs. His work in journalism gave him extensive exposure to government activities and political developments, as well as experience communicating complex public issues to a wider audience.

In 2019, he was appointed Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. In that position, he became responsible for communicating the administration's policies, programmes and activities to the public. He also worked closely with journalists and other media professionals in presenting information about the state government.

As Chief Press Secretary, Ajakaye has remained an important part of the Kwara State government's communication structure. His responsibilities have included preparing official statements, coordinating media engagements and explaining government policies and programmes to residents and the wider public.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Ajakaye has maintained connections with his community in Ifelodun and has been involved in discussions concerning development and public affairs in Kwara State. Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ajakaye Rafiu Oriyomi emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency. His candidacy represents a transition from government communication and public service into elective politics, where he is seeking to represent the people of the constituency in the House of Representatives.
