Biography of Hon. Jaha Ahmadu Usman

Hon. Ahmadu Usman Jaha, popularly known as Babawo, is a Nigerian politician and legislator from Borno State. He was born on 2 February 1974 in Borno State and represents the Damboa/Gwoza/Chibok Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jaha obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Maiduguri and has also pursued doctoral studies. He has professional affiliations and fellowships in management and related fields, reflecting his academic and professional interests.

His political career began at the state level. He was elected to the Borno State House of Assembly in 2007 and served for two terms, from 2007 to 2015. During his time in the state legislature, he represented the interests of his constituents and participated in legislative activities concerning the development of Borno State.

In 2015, Jaha was appointed Commissioner for Higher Education in Borno State by Governor Kashim Shettima. He served in that position until 2018, during which he was involved in matters relating to tertiary education and the development of higher-education institutions in the state.

Jaha subsequently moved into federal politics and was elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 to represent the Damboa/Gwoza/Chibok Federal Constituency. He was re-elected in the 2023 general election and became a member of the 10th National Assembly.

In the House of Representatives, Jaha has been involved in legislative discussions concerning security, education, humanitarian affairs and development in Borno State. He has also spoken on the security challenges affecting communities in his constituency and the wider North-East region.

Jaha has maintained a strong interest in constituency development, with interventions covering humanitarian assistance, agriculture, healthcare, education and community infrastructure. In the 10th National Assembly, he serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Insurance and Actuarial Matters.

With experience spanning the Borno State House of Assembly, state executive administration and the National Assembly, Ahmadu Usman Jaha has built a political career focused on public administration, education, security and constituency representation.
