Biography of Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad

Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad is a Nigerian engineer, renewable-energy specialist, public administrator and politician from Adamawa State. Born on 20 October 1983, he has built a career around engineering, energy development, public-sector management and community development.

Ahmad Salihijo studied Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, graduating in 2006. He later pursued further studies in project planning and management and development studies, adding to his professional background in infrastructure and public administration.

He has worked in several areas of public policy and development, including the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission and the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P). He also served as Special Adviser to the Minister of Environment, where he was involved in environmental and renewable-energy initiatives, including work connected with Nigeria's Green Bond programme.

In 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Ahmad Salihijo as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). During his tenure, he was involved in programmes aimed at expanding electricity access to underserved and rural communities through renewable energy and mini-grid projects.

Beyond government, Salihijo has been involved in humanitarian and educational initiatives. He founded the FlexiSAF Foundation, which supports educational opportunities for disadvantaged children and has been involved in programmes addressing the needs of out-of-school children.

In 2026, Ahmad Salihijo entered electoral politics under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He emerged as the party's candidate for the Yola North/Yola South/Girei Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election. His campaign has emphasised youth empowerment, technology, security, economic opportunities and development-focused representation.
