Oyo | House of representatives
Hon. Adeyemi Akeem Adeniyi is a Nigerian politician and member of the House of Representatives representing the Afijio/Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba Federal Constituency of Oyo State. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is currently serving his second consecutive term in the National Assembly. His political career has been centred on legislative representation and public service, particularly in matters affecting his constituency and the wider Oyo State.
Adeyemi was born on 12 August 1976. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree, and his educational background also includes primary and secondary qualifications recorded by the Independent National Electoral Commission. His academic and professional background preceded his entry into the National Assembly, where he has subsequently built a career around legislative work and public representation.
His political career became nationally prominent during the 2019 general election, when he contested for the House of Representatives seat representing Afijio, Oyo East, Oyo West and Atiba Federal Constituency on the platform of the APC. The official INEC final list for the 2019 election records Adeyemi as the APC candidate for the constituency, with his qualifications listed as FSLC, SSCE and B.Sc.
Following the election, Adeyemi became a member of the Ninth National Assembly, serving from 2019 to 2023. During that Assembly, he rose to the position of Chairman of the House Committee on Communications, a committee responsible for legislative oversight of issues relating to telecommunications, information and communication technology and related areas. His committee leadership gave him a role in considering policies and regulatory matters affecting Nigeria's communications sector.
Adeyemi successfully secured another term in the 2023 general election, returning to the House of Representatives for the 10th National Assembly. He is therefore serving a second term covering the 2023–2027 legislative period. His constituency comprises four local government areas—Afijio, Oyo East, Oyo West and Atiba—and his legislative responsibilities include representing their interests in federal lawmaking, participating in debates and oversight activities, and supporting matters concerning development within the constituency.
Beyond his committee responsibilities, Adeyemi's role as a federal legislator involves participation in the consideration of national legislation, government budgets and policies, as well as oversight of federal institutions and programmes. His continued representation has also kept him involved in constituency matters, where federal representation can provide a channel for communities to raise issues concerning infrastructure, education, employment, healthcare and other areas of public development.
Ahead of the 2027 general election, the Oyo State APC has again listed Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi as its candidate for the Afijio/Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West Federal Constituency. The party formally unveiled its Oyo State candidates in September 2026, including Adeyemi among its House of Representatives candidates. His inclusion means he is seeking another term in the House after serving continuously since his first election in 2019.
Adeyemi Akeem Adeniyi's political career has consequently progressed from his first election to the House of Representatives in 2019 to a second term beginning in 2023, with experience in committee leadership and legislative representation. As the APC candidate for the constituency ahead of the 2027 election, he remains a notable political figure in Oyo State's federal legislative contest and continues to seek representation of the people of Afijio, Oyo East, Oyo West and Atiba at the National Assembly.
