Ogun | House of representatives
Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo is a Nigerian politician and public administrator from Ogun State. She is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is the APC candidate for the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election. Her political career spans grassroots party organisation, state legislative service and executive government administration.
Adeleye began her political career at the grassroots level and became involved in party activities at a young age. She was elected to the Ogun State House of Assembly in 2007, representing Ifo Constituency II, and was subsequently re-elected. She served two terms in the state legislature from 2007 to 2015, giving her eight years of experience in lawmaking and constituency representation.
After leaving the state legislature, Adeleye continued her public-service career at the federal level. She served as a Senior Legislative Aide to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, gaining experience in the workings of the National Assembly and federal legislative processes. Her career subsequently returned to Ogun State, where she became involved in the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Under the Abiodun administration, Adeleye initially served as Special Adviser on Women Affairs and Social Development before becoming a member of the Ogun State Executive Council. She subsequently served as Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and later as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development. In the latter role, she was involved in government programmes focused on women's economic empowerment, social development and support for vulnerable groups.
Her tenure in the women affairs portfolio included involvement in initiatives designed to improve women's access to economic opportunities, skills and financial support. Among the programmes associated with the ministry during her tenure was the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up, which established Women Affinity Groups across Ogun State. The state also announced a ₦35 million empowerment intervention for women in 2026, with different categories of beneficiaries receiving financial assistance.
In April 2026, Adeleye formally declared her intention to contest the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 election. She made the declaration in her home ward in Ifo, describing her political journey as one rooted in grassroots engagement. She identified economic empowerment, job creation, vocational training, support for small businesses and investment among the areas she intends to pursue through federal representation.
Adeleye subsequently secured the APC ticket for Ifo/Ewekoro. At the party's primary held in May 2026, she received 25,167 votes across the 21 wards of the constituency, with 17,286 votes recorded in Ifo and 7,881 in Ewekoro. She therefore emerged as the party's candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye's public career therefore combines grassroots politics, state legislative service, federal legislative experience and executive government administration. Having represented Ifo II in the Ogun State House of Assembly and served in senior positions within the Ogun State Government, her 2027 candidacy marks another stage in her political career as she seeks to represent the people of Ifo and Ewekoro at the federal level.
