About Adegbesan Joseph Folorunsho (Hon.)

Hon. Joseph Folorunsho Adegbesan is a Nigerian politician and engineer from Ogun State. He represents the Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Born on 7 January 1957, he holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree and has combined his professional background with several years of legislative service.

Adegbesan's educational background includes primary and secondary education before he proceeded to higher education and obtained a degree in engineering. His training as an engineer provided him with a technical background before his transition into public and political activities. He later became involved in community and political affairs within Ogun State, particularly in the Ijebu axis.

He entered federal politics as a candidate for the House of Representatives and was elected to represent the Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency in the 2019 general election. He retained the seat in the 2023 general election, becoming a member of the 10th National Assembly. His constituency covers three local government areas: Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside.

During his time in the National Assembly, Adegbesan has participated in legislative activities covering infrastructure, youth development, agriculture and other areas of national development. He has also served as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Youth Development, giving him responsibilities relating to legislative oversight and policy matters concerning young Nigerians.

Adegbesan has also sponsored legislative proposals connected with development in Ogun State. One notable proposal is the National Institute for Oil Palm Research, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State (Establishment) Bill, introduced in the 10th National Assembly. He has also been involved in advocacy concerning infrastructure, including the Ijebu-Ode–Ibadan Road, which is an important transportation route for communities in the constituency.

Beyond his formal legislative duties, Adegbesan has undertaken constituency engagements and interventions in areas such as education, youth development and empowerment. He has maintained consultations with traditional rulers, religious leaders, market associations and other community stakeholders across Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside. These engagements have been part of his efforts to identify local concerns and communicate his legislative activities to constituents.

Ahead of the 2027 general election, Adegbesan has been consulting with stakeholders across the federal constituency as he seeks another term in the House of Representatives. In 2025, APC leaders in Ijebu North publicly endorsed him for re-election, while in 2026 he continued consultations with community and traditional institutions across the constituency.

Joseph Folorunsho Adegbesan's career therefore combines an engineering background, grassroots political engagement and federal legislative service. Having represented Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside since 2019 and retained the seat in 2023, he remains an established political figure associated with the federal constituency and is seeking continued representation in the 2027 electoral cycle.
